Blue Spruce Toolworks dovetail skew chisels are some of the finest quality skew chisels available today. They are specifically designed for fine paring and fitting of joinery such as dovetails, mortise and tenons, instrument making, etc. Made in the style of classic, tang-style chisels from long ago, they are lighter in weight than most traditional bench chisels, especially socket-style bench chisels, and are superbly balanced. The handles are designed to nestle in the palm of your hand and provide a comfortable, secure grip for precision, fatigue-free work. The relatively short blades are 1/8 inch (3.2 mm) thick and have parallel, concave machined sides leading to a side land that is only a few thousandths of an inch (0.15 mm) thick which gives excellent visibility and the ability to pare right into the sharpest dovetail corners. The blades are made from A2 tool steel which is some of the finest steel available for edge tools today. It is hardened and tempered in a computer controlled vacuum furnace to a hardness of Rc60. The cutting edge is ground and honed at a compound 30 degree angle. They are sharp and ready to use, however, you may want to perform additional, final honing for the ultimate edge. The skew chisels are only available as a matching left and right hand pair. PLEASE NOTE: Blue Spruce Toolworks chisels are made to order and may have a lead time of 3 to 4 weeks.
