Burnishers are used to form a burr or hook on card scrapers and scraper plane irons. The burnisher needs to be smooth and hard. Ground and polished carbide is one of the hardest materials available and makes an ideal burnishing rod. Blue Spruce Toolworks burnishers are the highest quality possible and feature a 1/4" diameter rod that is supported deep into the handle for maximum strength. The handles are extra long for a firm, comfortable grip and are available in Hard Curly Maple, African Blackwood and Cocobolo. We can also make a handle using wood that you specify or even supply.
